“Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fear's path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain”
In our evolution, the emotional stat of fear was an important factor in our survival since it ensured the avoiding of foolish behavior such as living alone, walking in the wild in the night time etc. Nowadays there are less and less natural factors to fear, we usually switched the natural factors with human ones such as the fear of getting caught doing something illegal, fear of crowds, fear of public speaking etc. Out of all our present day fears, the fear of public speaking dwarfs every other fear. For example if you invite 1000 people to a funeral, the greater majority of those present would rather switch places with the deceased than hold the funeral speech.
Starting from only 2 natural fears such as the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling, how did it come to the point were we have so many irrational fears and phobias. One of the most common fear in men other that public speaking is the fear of talking to women. What was it that generated this irrational fear of women. Almost all men like women and want to get close to theme, but at the same time the majority of men are afraid of them. What is it? The fear of rejection? Of some sort of public humiliation? Of what they think? It’s all possible, but I want to know what’s your reason for not speaking to women, or better still how did you overcome your fear, if you had one in the first place.
